Minnesota “Go-Get-It” 7-on-7 Flag Passing League
Across the nation, 7-on-7 Leagues are growing as more coaches, players and parents are discovering the benefits of de-veloping the necessary skills that will prepare their teams for the upcoming football season. Many of the athletes that play at top colleges have sharpened their skill sets by playing in 7-on-7 leagues, which emphasize timing, route running, quarterback play, and tempo. Coaches feel that participating in 7-on- 7 leagues will have their athlete’s one step closer to a successful season.

Minnesota “Go-Get-It” 7-on-7 Flag Passing League’s mission is to provide a fun and safe environment for players and teams to develop their skills. “Go-Get-It” is a developmental league designed for Youth: 4th/5th, 6th/7th, & 8th/9th(entering 9th 2012) grades. “Go-Get-It” will host a spring session April and May with a guaranteed six game season. “Go-Get-It” will also host a summer session in June and July with a guaranteed six game season.

7-ON-7 RULES
Teams: Max. 16 players per team, Min. 12 players per team. At least one Adult Coach Mandatory.

Teams must wear the same jersey/shirt
Mouth pieces required by all athletes.

Field Dimensions:

Length: 40 yard line- Going in.
Width: 160 feet
End Zones: 10 yards deep

Officials/Referees:
  • One official behind the offense to spot ball and make sure QB gets rid of ball in time
  • One official behind defense to watch for penalties and keep score/clock
  • Referee will announce score before each offensive possession begins.
  • The ball will always be placed on the right hash mark when spotted at the 40 yard line.

Moving the Ball:
  • All Offensive formations must be legal sets.
  • One run play/QB keeper per possession.
  • First downs are made by crossing the 25 yard line and the 10 yard line.
  • 3 downs to make a first down( even inside the 10yard line)
  • PAT Snaps are at the 5 yard line for 1 point and 10 yard line for 2 points. Offensive choice of hash.
  • Offense has 3.8 seconds to get pass off (starts on snap of ball). It will be a loss of down and treated like a sack if not thrown in time.(10u & 12u will have 4.2 seconds)-QB Tee Required
  • All PASSES MUST ADVANCE BEYOND THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. (or play will be treated like a sack)
  • Double Passes will be allowed as long as the pass crosses line-of-scrimmage within the standard pass clock time.
  • Possession changes after PAT attempt or failure to make a first down or turnover.
  • Game time 2-20 minute half’s. Continuous clock first 19 minutes. Play stops the final minute of each half (incomplete pass, out-of-bounds, defensive penalty, or injuries). NO OVERTIME
  • One time-out per team per half.
  • 25 seconds in between plays.
  • Fumbles are dead balls at the spot. A muffed snap is not a fumble/dead ball.
  • Interceptions may be returned however, defensive players may not block anyone subsequent to an INT. If INT is returned beyond the 40 yard line it is a touchdown and PAT will ensue. (Intercepting team will also get possession)

Special Rules:
  • No Blocking or Screening
  • No kicking or Punting
  • No diving to advance the ball & No diving to pull a flag.
  • No flag guarding- you can NOT block a defender from pulling a flag.
  • A Player is down when flag is pulled. If the player is missing a flag prior to advancing the ball the player is down when tagged with one-hand.
  • One flag must be on each side of the athlete. (Outer Hip)

Penalties:
  • Defensive pass interference= Automatic first down and 5 yards from original line of scrimmage.
  • Offensive pass interference= Previous spot loss of down.
  • Defensive holding= Automatic first down and 5 yards from original line of scrimmage.
  • Blocking and or Screening= 5 yards from the spot of the foul.
  • Illegal Procedure (offense) = Loss of down.
  • Defensive Off-sides= 5 yards
  • Delay of game (25seconds) = loss of down. CLOCK STOPS IN FINAL 1:00
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct= 15 yards (individual player possible ejection)
  • No taunting or “trash talking”- 5 yard penalty
  • NO PENALTIES WILL BE ASSESSED IN EXCECESS OF THE 40 YARD LINE. LOSS OF DOWN WILL BE ASSESSED.
  • ONLY OFFENSIVE COACH PERMITTED ON FIELD TO CALL PLAYS

Point System

Touchdown= 6 pts

Extra Point= 1 point (from 5 yd line), 2 pts. (from 10 yd line)

First Down= 1 point

Interception= Defensive Interception scores 3 points, plus possession at the 40-yard line. Interception returned for a touchdown 6 points.

Defensive stop= 1 point for defense

Forfeiting Policy: forfeiting a league game in the “Go-Get-It” 7-on-7 Flag passing Football League will place your team on probation and there will be a $75 fine assessed. The fee MUST be submitted to the league director prior to your next scheduled game. Forfeiting a second game will automatically SUSPEND your team and coaches in addition to a $100 fine. If a team forfeits a third time they will be automatically TERMINATED from all Saints Sports Academy events for one calendar year.
